EVOLV Vinyl Wrap, Installed in Davie

If you landed here, you probably saw a color you liked and someone told you the film was Evolve. Or you typed "Evolve" and got here anyway. Same brand: the manufacturer writes it Evolve, without the E, and their automotive line is Italian cast wrap vinyl. This page is what we know about that film after putting it on cars, plus the exact color list we can quote you from.

Evolve's wrap film is APA cast vinyl, made in Italy, with the colors developed in Milan. Cast, not calendered, which is the distinction that matters on a vehicle: it goes around a mirror cap and into a bumper recess without fighting you, and it does not want to crawl back to flat afterwards. The standard gloss and satin colors run 90 microns on a 60-inch roll. The heavier lines — UltraMatte, the Supercandy double-layers, the 3D carbon textures — run 140 microns and install slower.

We are a wrap shop in Davie, five minutes off I-595, and we keep the schedule to 30 to 40 vehicles a month so each car gets real hours. Every wrap goes on indoors in a climate-controlled bay, panel by panel, with the trim off. Color change starts at $3,000, the inspection before it is free, and 0% financing for 12 months is available on everything we do.

What Evolve actually is

Evolve is a film brand that sells paint protection film, automotive wrap, architectural film and marine film. The wrap side is APA cast vinyl — an Italian film line — and Evolve states the material is made in Italy with the colors developed and tailor-made in Milan. The product codes you will see on our color list are Evolve's own catalog references, not something we made up: JP/R87 is Satin Black, JP/R82.2 is Satin Lunar Rock, JP/R96.99 is Gloss Miami Blue.

A few things we could confirm directly from the manufacturer, and only these:

The film is cast, and Evolve recommends cast specifically for vehicles because of UV exposure and conformability.
Standard gloss and satin colors are 90 microns thick on a 60-inch roll.
The adhesive on the current line is POWERJET, described as their 5th-generation adhesive — low initial tack so the film can be repositioned before it is committed, then pressure-activated. Older references in the same catalog list UltraJet, a 4th-generation adhesive.
The liner is a micro-channelled air-release system, so air pushes out instead of trapping under the panel.
Evolve runs a Pro Dealer and Pro Installer network with hands-on classes capped at ten students and a certificate of participation at the end.

What we did not find published anywhere on the manufacturer's site: a stated number of years the wrap film is warranted for. More on that below, because we are not going to quote a number nobody published.

59 colors, and 16 of them are satin

Our Evolve color list runs 59 colors. That is smaller than 3M 2080 (126) or Avery Dennison SW900 (150), and the shape of it is different — this is not a catalog trying to have one of everything. It is weighted toward satin and toward color-matched paint shades.

How the 59 break down by finish:

Gloss — 37 total: 23 straight gloss, 10 gloss metallic, 3 gloss candy, 1 gloss pearl.
Satin — 16 total: 10 satin, 5 satin metallic, 1 satin candy.
Carbon fiber textures — 3.
Matte — 3: one matte, one matte metallic, one UltraMatte.

The satin run is the reason people ask for Evolve by name. It includes Satin Lunar Rock (JP/R82.2), Satin Black (JP/R87), Satin White (JP/R80), Satin Bianco Lumina (JP/R80.9), Satin Black Olive (JP/R84.4), Satin Rainstorm Grey / Battleship (JP/R82), Satin Sandstorm / DesertStorm (JP/R88.2), Satin Rosso Spicey (JP/983.8), Satin Kirby Pink (JP/R83.4) and Satin Sassy Pink (JW/FL85). On top of that sit five satin metallics — Satin Metal Canyon Bronze (JP/R89.21), Satin Metal Deep Ocean Blue (JP/R89.6), Satin Metallic Midnight Blue (JP/R89.61), Satin Metallic Millennium Jade (JP/R89.4) and Satin Metallic Verde Lux (JP/984.8) — plus Satin Supercandy Blue (JP/KK86).

Satin is also the finish that lies the most on a phone screen. Satin black and matte black are almost indistinguishable in a photo and nothing alike in daylight, which is why we make you look at the physical film against your own paint before you commit anything.

The color-match colors, and where they came from

Part of the Evolve range is APA's COLORMATCH collection, which the manufacturer describes as iconic OEM colors from different makers and eras, matched in cast film. They are explicit that these are not touch-up paint and that you should look at a sample first — advice we agree with enough to build our whole consult around it.

Two we can point at specifically:

Gloss Miami Blue (JP/R96.99) — Evolve states this is a color match to Porsche's Miami Blue.
Satin Lunar Rock (JP/R82.2) — the satin version of Gloss Lunar Rock, matched to Toyota's Lunar Rock as it appears on the 4Runner, Tundra, Tacoma TRD Pro and RAV4. Evolve lists Gloss Lunar Rock as APA's first US-exclusive color, released in 2021, and Satin Lunar Rock is on their site as a Color of the Year.

The rest of the list reads the same way: Gloss Oslo Blue (JP/R96.98), Gloss Gulf Blue (JP/R96.8), Gloss Petrol Blue (JP/R96.11), Gloss Navy Blue (JP/R96.5), Gloss Sandstorm (JP/R98.2), Gloss Urban Ivory (JP/R98.4), Gloss Halo Lavender (JP/R93.3), Gloss Jet Black (JP/R97), Gloss Solid Red (JP/R93.1). On the metallic side: Gloss Metallic Comet Silver (JP/R99.1), Gloss Metal British Green (JP/R99.43), Gloss Metal Daytona Grey (JP/R99.19), Gloss Metal Champagne Bronze (JP/R99.23), Gloss Metal Levante Blue / Niagara (JP/R99.63) and Gloss Metallic Space Blue (JP/999.62).

The thick lines: candy, UltraMatte and 3D carbon

Three parts of the Evolve range are not 90-micron film, and they change how long your car sits with us.

Supercandy — 140 microns, double layer. APA builds these the way candy paint is built: a high-metallic silver layer underneath and a translucent color layer on top that lights up in the sun. Evolve says outright that the Super Candy colors take more attention on install because the material is thicker. We have three gloss candies — Supercandy Blue (JP/KK96), Supercandy Fire Red (JP/KK93.2), Supercandy Green (JP/KK94) — and one satin, Satin Supercandy Blue (JP/KK86). Roll width is 59 inches.
UltraMatte Black (JP/87.0H) — 140 microns, double layer, 57-inch roll. A suede-textured matte, not a low-gloss black. It is the deepest matte in the range and the narrowest roll, which matters on wide panels.
3D carbon textures — 140 microns, 59-inch roll. Carbon Forged 3D (JP/977) has random fiber orientation so no two panels look identical, alongside Carbon Fiber Black 3D HS (CW/R67-HX) and Carbon Fiber Racing Gloss Black 3D HS (JP/RR67). These are accent films for us — mirror caps, splitters, diffusers, interior trim — not full cars.

Thicker film means more heat, more time and more care at every recess. It shows up on the quote as hours, not as a surcharge we invented.

Why Evolve gets installed indoors, not in a parking lot

This is the part that makes a climate-controlled bay a technical requirement rather than a nice detail. Evolve publishes a recommended application temperature of 15 to 28 degrees Celsius — 59 to 82 Fahrenheit. In Broward, an open bay or a driveway is above that range for most of the year, and the adhesive does not behave the same way when it is.

The rest of how we handle it:

Trim comes off. Handles, badges and trim are removed where the design calls for it so the film wraps under the edge instead of stopping at it. Edges that stop at the surface are the ones that lift first.
Post-heat is not optional. Evolve specifies post-heating in the 95 to 100 Celsius range — 205 to 215 Fahrenheit — to take the memory out of stretched areas. Skip it and the film pulls back out of the recesses weeks later.
The low-tack adhesive is a working advantage, not a shortcut. POWERJET lets a panel be repositioned before it is committed, which is what makes a clean single-piece hood realistic. It does not make a rushed job survive.
Removal is planned from day one. Evolve's own guidance is to heat the film to about 50 Celsius (roughly 122 Fahrenheit) on the way off. Removed properly, it leaves no residue and takes no paint or clear coat with it.

When we recommend Evolve, and when we do not

We stock more than one wrap line on purpose, and the honest answer is that Evolve is not always the right one.

Evolve makes sense when:

You want satin. Sixteen of the 59 colors are satin-family, and it is the strongest part of the range.
You are chasing a specific factory paint shade — Porsche Miami Blue, Toyota Lunar Rock — rather than a color that only exists in vinyl.
You want a candy or a deep metallic and you are willing to pay for the extra install time a 140-micron double layer costs.
You want 3D carbon on accents that will not look like a sticker up close.

We will point you elsewhere when:

You want maximum gloss depth — that is what Inozetek's super gloss exists for.
You want the widest possible color hunt. Avery Dennison SW900 has 150 colors in our catalog and 3M 2080 has 126; Evolve has 59.
You want a printed or fleet-branding job, which is a different conversation entirely.

We also install 3M, Avery Dennison, Inozetek and Hexis. No unbranded rolls, on any car, ever.

Warranty, price and seeing it on your own car

On warranty, here is exactly where the line sits. Evolve publishes a warranty policy for its car wrap film and requires that it be activated online within 30 days of installation or it is void. Their published coverage is for cracking, peeling, delaminating and bubbling under normal use, and it excludes damage from improper installation, scratches, dents and impact damage, neglect or harsh chemicals, extreme environmental exposure, and labor, repainting or surface repair costs. What we could not find published is a term in years for the wrap line specifically. So we will not print one. We confirm the exact warranty term for the color you pick, in writing, before you book. We will not sell you a warranty we cannot register.

Separately, and from our own bay rather than from a manufacturer: quality film installed properly holds its color for five to seven years in Florida sun with reasonable care. Garage parking and hand washing extend that. Automatic washes shorten it.

Is Evolve the same thing as "Evolve" wrap film?

Yes. The manufacturer spells it Evolve, without the final E, and their site is theevolv.com. Most people type "Evolve" because that is how it sounds. It is one brand, and the automotive wrap line under it is APA cast vinyl made in Italy.

How many Evolve colors can I actually pick from at Elite?

Fifty-nine in our color list. Thirty-seven are gloss-family (23 gloss, 10 gloss metallic, 3 gloss candy, 1 gloss pearl), 16 are satin-family (10 satin, 5 satin metallic, 1 satin candy), 3 are 3D carbon textures and 3 are matte, including UltraMatte Black. Is Evolve cast or calendered vinyl, and how thick is it?

Cast. Evolve's standard gloss and satin colors are 90 microns on a 60-inch roll. The heavier lines are 140 microns: UltraMatte Black (JP/87.0H, double layer, 57-inch roll), the Supercandy double-layers (59-inch) and the 3D carbon textures (59-inch). Cast film is what conforms into recesses and stays there; calendered film fights curves and wants to shrink back.

Does Evolve wrap film come with a warranty, and for how long?

Evolve publishes a warranty policy for its car wrap film that covers cracking, peeling, delaminating and bubbling under normal use, and it must be activated online within 30 days of installation to be valid. It excludes improper installation, impact damage, scratches, dents, harsh chemicals and labor or repaint costs. We do not print a term in years here because the manufacturer does not publish one for the wrap line the way it does for its clear PPF grades. We confirm the exact term for your specific color in writing before you book. We will not sell you a warranty we cannot register.

Why does Evolve film have to be installed in a climate-controlled shop?

Because Evolve's own recommended application temperature is 15 to 28 degrees Celsius, which is 59 to 82 Fahrenheit. A Broward driveway or an open bay is above that range most of the year, and the adhesive does not lay down the same way outside it. The same document set specifies post-heating at 95 to 100 Celsius, 205 to 215 Fahrenheit, to pull the memory out of stretched areas. Both steps happen indoors here, every time.

Ceramic coating vs wax — what's the difference?

Wax was the gold standard for over 50 years — it's inexpensive and adds a nice depth of shine, but you have to reapply it every one to two months. What is the best ceramic coating?

How do you remove a paint scratch?

It starts with assessing the scratch. We wash with soap, water and a soft microfiber towel to lift loose contaminants, then use a clay bar with a specialized lubricant to pull out contaminants embedded in the clear coat. Next comes machine polishing — a dual-action polisher with a foam pad and the right cut compound, worked slowly in a crosshatch pattern, then wiped down with a paint-safe microfiber towel. Done correctly, swirls and light scratches come right out, restoring the finish across the whole vehicle.

What is PPF?

Paint protection film, also known as clear bra, clear wrap, or paint shield, is a transparent yet resilient film applied seamlessly to your vehicle’s exterior. PPF effectively shields your car’s paint from a variety of hazards, including bird droppings, UV-ray exposure, bug splatters, as well as chips and scratches caused by road debris and rocks. The top layer of this urethane film features “self-healing” properties through elastomeric polymers, reverting to its pristine, pre-incident condition, even when scratched.

Vinyl wrap or PPF color change — which should I choose?

Colored PPF (Ceramic Pro SHIFT) gives you color AND rock-chip protection in one film — it costs more than vinyl but does two jobs. Vinyl wrap offers far more colors and finishes at a lower price. Is a wrap better than repainting my car?

For most drivers, yes. A wrap is reversible — your factory paint stays untouched underneath, which matters for resale value and factory finish. It installs in days, not weeks, and when you want the next look you remove or swap it. A respray is permanent, and on a healthy factory finish it usually lowers the car’s value rather than raising it.

How long does a car wrap last in Florida?

Quality film professionally installed lasts 5–7 years in Florida with reasonable care. Garage parking and hand washing extend it; harsh sun exposure and automatic car washes shorten it. Adding a ceramic coating on top of the wrap makes washing easier and helps the finish last.

Does a wrap damage my paint?

No — it protects it. The vinyl shields the factory paint from UV and light abrasion the entire time it is on the car. On healthy factory paint, removal is clean. That is why wrapped cars often resell better: the original paint has been covered the whole time.

What is a chrome delete?

A chrome delete wraps the factory chrome trim — window surrounds, grille accents, badges — in gloss or satin black for a cleaner, more modern look. It is one of the most popular partial wrap services we do, and it is fully reversible.

Can I wrap just the roof, mirrors or accents?

Yes. Roof wraps, hoods, mirrors, spoilers and accent packages are all available on their own. Partial wraps are a popular way to change the car's attitude without a full color change budget.

What is window tint VLT (visible light transmission)?

Window tint darkness is measured as VLT — visible light transmission, the percentage of light let through your windows. The lower the number, the darker the tint: 5% is very dark, 50% lets about half the light through, and films range from about 5% up to 80%. One thing most people don't know: clear automotive glass already measures around 70–75% VLT on its own, so the legal reading is the combination of your glass plus the film. Every state has different legal limits, so check your local laws before choosing a shade.

Is ceramic tint better than regular tint?

Window tint is about more than looks — it's comfort, protection and efficiency. Ceramic tint is a top-tier film: it blocks up to 99% of UV rays, rejects solar heat without darkening your visibility, won't fade or change color over time, and causes zero signal interference. Regular dyed or metallic films are more budget-friendly and still block some heat and UV, but they can fade, discolor, and interfere with cell or GPS signal. Ceramic costs more upfront but delivers the best performance and saves you money long term.

How long does ceramic window tint last?

A quality ceramic film lasts a very long time — often backed by a lifetime warranty. The difference is the warranty and the film quality: cheap big-box or DIY films typically last only one to two years and rarely carry a warranty. To maximize its life, have it professionally installed and clean it regularly with ammonia-free products. Ceramic tint is still a thin film that can be damaged — if it is, it still works but may need replacing for looks. For its heat rejection and clarity, it's well worth it.

What should I do after getting my windows tinted?

A few simple steps: don't roll your windows down for three to five days (48 hours is usually enough on hot days) so the film doesn't shift or peel. It's normal to see water pockets, small bubbles, haziness or an orange-peel texture at first — that's the adhesive curing and bonding to the glass, and it clears up on its own. When you clean, use a soft microfiber towel and an ammonia-free cleaner; ammonia and harsh chemicals damage the film. Keep it simple and gentle.
