The film is trimmed on the car with the blade riding on the clear coat. Every cut line is a scratch you find the day the film comes off. Ours is cut off the car, from the pattern for your exact model, so the blade never runs on the paint.

Seams and lifting edges

Relief cuts across the middle of a panel, edges stopped short of the panel edge, corners that lift at the first pressure wash. We wrap the edges wherever the panel allows and keep seams where the eye does not go.

How a PPF install runs at the Davie shop

Two to three days for a front end, up to a week for a full body. The car stays indoors the whole time.

• Free inspection. We look at the paint under lights with you, flag rock chips or swirls that need correcting first, and put a written price on your exact vehicle.
• Decontamination and correction. Iron fallout, tar and old sealant come off. Anything sealed under film stays there for years, so the paint has to be right before the film touches it.
• Hand installation, edges wrapped. Each piece is cut for your car, laid wet, squeegeed and heat-set. Edges wrap around the panel instead of stopping short of it, which is what keeps dirt lines from forming.
• Cure, inspect, document. The car sits indoors while the film sets, then gets a final pass under light. The install is registered with the manufacturer and reported to CARFAX against your VIN.
