Three disadvantages that apply to all film
- Price. Partial Front from $899, Full Front from $1,799, Full Body from $4,990. It is a real expense, paid up front, and it only pays back if the car is kept or resold with its paint intact.
- Installer dependence. Film is a hand-installed product. The result depends on the room, the prep, the cutting and the edges. The same roll of film can be invisible or ugly depending on who put it on.
- Lifespan. Ceramic Pro Urban carries a 10-year warranty, Ceramic Pro PPF a lifetime warranty, but film is a consumable layer by design. One day it comes off and the paint under it is new.
Disadvantages that come from cheap film
- Yellowing after a summer or two.
- Cracking and delamination at edges.
- Adhesive left on the paint at removal.
- Orange-peel texture that shows in the sun.
Every one of those is excluded by a manufacturer warranty on a top-line film, and none of them show up on Ceramic Pro film installed properly.
