What it depends on
- Film. Cast vinyl from 3M or Avery holds color and stays put. Calendared film shrinks back from the edges within a year or two.
- Install. Window trim has compound curves and sharp edges. Film has to be post-heated properly or it lifts.
- Washing. Brush washes catch the edges. Hand or touchless washing does not.
Which pieces fail first
The lower window trim near the mirror and the ends of the handle recesses. If those are still down at year two, the rest will make it to year five and beyond.
When it lifts
Bring it in. Re-doing one piece of trim is quick, and if it lifted inside the warranty period it is on us.
Making it last longer
pH-neutral soap, no pressure washer point-blank on the edges, and a Ceramic Pro coating over the satin film to keep water and dirt from working at the seams.
