Why it works
Matte black flattens the body lines and makes chrome and gloss trim pop. It hides dust and light water spots better than gloss black. On white, silver and grey cars it is the biggest visual change available for the money.
What it asks of you
- Hand or touchless washing with a pH-neutral soap. No brushes, no wax, no polish.
- Bird droppings and love bugs off within a day. Matte cannot be polished, so etching is permanent.
- Expect five to seven years of life in Florida sun with care.
Film choices
3M 2080 matte black, Avery SW900 matte black, Inozetek satin black. Satin gives a slight sheen that is more forgiving than true matte. We can show either on your own car with the visualizer.
The durable alternative
Ceramic Pro Matte PPF: a satin-black finish in an 8 mil protection film that self-heals, resists stains and stops rock chips, from $5,549 for a full car. If the car sees the highway daily, that is the version that still looks new in year five.
