Harder than it looks. Window trim has compound curves, tight radii and exposed edges, and the film has to be stretched, post-heated and trimmed without a blade ever touching paint or glass. It is fine work that separates experienced installers from everyone else.

It depends what "bad" means. Faded, swirled or scratched clear coat: yes, prep it and wrap it. Peeling, flaking or bubbling clear coat: no, the wrap will not stick to it and will take it off on removal. Vinyl needs sound paint under it.
