Can a vinyl wrapped car go through a carwash?

Touchless, yes. Brush and cloth washes, no: they catch edges, lift seams and dull the finish, especially on matte. Hand washing with pH-neutral soap is best, and a pressure washer is fine at a foot or more, away from edges.

Harder than it looks. Window trim has compound curves, tight radii and exposed edges, and the film has to be stretched, post-heated and trimmed without a blade ever touching paint or glass. It is fine work that separates experienced installers from everyone else.

Is it worth wrapping a car with bad paint?

It depends what "bad" means. Faded, swirled or scratched clear coat: yes, prep it and wrap it. Peeling, flaking or bubbling clear coat: no, the wrap will not stick to it and will take it off on removal. Vinyl needs sound paint under it.

The "get paid to wrap your car" offers that arrive by text and email are almost all scams built around a fake check. Real advertising wraps exist for fleets and businesses, not for private drivers recruited online. We install commercial wraps for companies on their own vehicles.

Will my car lose value if I wrap it?

Accepted Answer

No. A wrap is removable, and the factory paint under it has been protected from the sun for as long as the wrap was on. Sell it wrapped to a buyer who wants the color, or remove the wrap and sell it in the original color. A cheap wrap with adhesive left behind is the only way to lose value.
