- Wrap: five to seven years with branded cast film, hand washing and no long-term neglect. Horizontal surfaces (roof, hood) age first.
- Paint: decades, if it is protected from UV and impacts. Unprotected in Florida, clear coat can start failing in ten years.
Why it is the wrong comparison
A wrap is temporary by design. It changes the color without a permanent decision and it shields the paint while it is on. When it comes off, the paint underneath has spent five years out of the sun. Resale value stays with the factory color.
Making each last
Wrap: hand or touchless washing, pH-neutral soap, PPF on the front bumper over the wrap. Paint: a Ceramic Pro coating for UV and chemical protection, PPF on the impact zones.
The permanent color change
