How long do car wraps last vs paint?

Paint, protected, lasts the life of the car. A wrap lasts five to seven years in Florida sun, then comes off and the original paint is underneath, preserved. A wrap is a finish you rent; paint is one you own.

The numbers

Why it is the wrong comparison

A wrap is temporary by design. It changes the color without a permanent decision and it shields the paint while it is on. When it comes off, the paint underneath has spent five years out of the sun. Resale value stays with the factory color.

Making each last

Wrap: hand or touchless washing, pH-neutral soap, PPF on the front bumper over the wrap. Paint: a Ceramic Pro coating for UV and chemical protection, PPF on the impact zones.

The permanent color change

Colored and matte PPF: color change in an 8 mil protection film, 10-year to lifetime warranty, still removable. From $5,549 for a full car in matte.

It is the most popular color change we do and it looks right on almost anything. For a keeper that lives on the highway, satin black PPF is the more durable version. Full answer →
How much does matte black wrapping cost?
Matte black is priced like any standard-color full wrap: by vehicle size, film brand and how much trim comes off. It sits at the base of the film price range in 3M 2080 and Avery SW900, so a matte black full wrap is among the most affordable color changes. Full answer →
How much does it cost to chrome delete a Tesla Model 3?
A Model 3 chrome delete covers the window trim, door handles, side-camera housings and sometimes the mirror caps and badges, in satin or gloss black film. It is a few hours of precise work and typically costs a few hundred dollars; we quote on the car. Full answer →
How long does a chrome delete last?
Five to seven years in Florida sun with branded cast film and proper washing, the same as any wrap. The window trim is the part that fails first if the install was rushed, because the curves are tight and the edges are exposed to brushes and squeegees. Full answer →
