Why value stays
Buyers, dealers and appraisers value factory paint. Under a branded cast-vinyl wrap, the factory paint is intact and has spent years out of the sun and away from wash brushes. Remove the wrap before selling and the car presents as an original-color car with better-than-average paint.
Selling it wrapped
Some buyers want exactly the wrapped color and pay for it. Tell them the paint color underneath and offer removal as an option. Keep the film brand and install date; it helps.
The one way to lose value
Unbranded calendared film that shrinks, cracks and leaves adhesive on removal. Cleaning that up is a paid correction and sometimes a respray. Branded cast film from 3M, Avery, Inozetek or Hexis removes clean.
Lease returns
Remove the wrap before return unless the lease allows it. The paint under it will pass inspection better than an unwrapped car.
