No, as long as they are in the clear coat, which they almost always are. A machine correction levels the clear coat and they are gone. They become permanent only when a car has been polished so many times there is no clear coat left to work with.

How do you remove a paint scratch?

Accepted Answer

It starts with assessing the scratch. We wash with soap, water and a soft microfiber towel to lift loose contaminants, then use a clay bar with a specialized lubricant to pull out contaminants embedded in the clear coat. Next comes machine polishing — a dual-action polisher with a foam pad and the right cut compound, worked slowly in a crosshatch pattern, then wiped down with a paint-safe microfiber towel. Done correctly, swirls and light scratches come right out, restoring the finish across the whole vehicle.

How long do paint corrections take?

One day for a single-stage correction on a small car; two to three days for a multi-stage correction on a large or badly swirled one. The clock is set by the paint, not the calendar: every panel is worked under lights until the defects are gone.
