Why do I still have swirl marks after polishing?

Either the polish was too fine to reach the bottom of the scratches, the pad and product were filling rather than cutting, or the "swirls" are holograms the polisher itself left. Sometimes what looks like swirls under a light is contamination that was never removed.

Next comes machine polishing — a dual-action polisher with a foam pad and the right cut compound, worked slowly in a crosshatch pattern, then wiped down with a paint-safe microfiber towel. Done correctly, swirls and light scratches come right out, restoring the finish across the whole vehicle.
