Why headlights need it
Headlight lenses are polycarbonate with a thin factory UV coating. Sand and gravel pit the surface, and once the UV coating is compromised the lens yellows and hazes from the inside out. Replacing a modern LED or matrix headlight costs more than most people expect, and "restoration" only buys a season.
What film does
- Takes the pitting instead of the lens.
- Blocks the UV that yellows the plastic.
- Self-heals light scratches with heat.
- Does not change light output or beam pattern; it is optically clear.
What it does not affect
Headlight washers, sensors near the lamp, adaptive lighting, inspections. The film is cut to the lens and does not cover anything that needs to see.
Cost
Headlights are part of Partial Front (from $899, with the front bumper) and every package above it. Headlights alone are quoted per car; most people add the bumper because it takes the same hits.
