Why not every year
Factory clear coat is roughly 40 to 50 microns. A proper correction removes a few. A car can take a handful of corrections in its life, not a yearly one. Shops that "polish it every year" are thinning the clear coat until it fails.
The sequence that works
- Correct once, to the level the paint needs.
- Protect it: a Ceramic Pro coating from $499 hardens the surface against wash marring.
- Wash by hand or touchless. Brush washes are where swirls come from.
- Once a year, a Ceramic Maintenance Detail: decontamination, inspection, coating top-up. No abrasives.
When a second correction makes sense
After years of brush washes, after a bad detail with holograms, or before selling a car that was never protected. We measure paint depth first and tell you if there is enough clear coat to do it safely.
