Where swirls live
In the top few microns of the clear coat. Factory clear is 40 to 50 microns thick. A correction removes a few microns and the swirls with them. That leaves plenty for the life of the car, provided nobody keeps polishing it every year.
When they are permanent
- The clear coat has already been thinned by repeated aggressive polishing. We measure it before touching the car and tell you.
- The "swirls" are actually clear-coat failure: cloudy patches, peeling. That is a body shop.
- Scratches through the clear into the color. Those are not swirls; the fingernail catches.
The fix
A machine correction, from $500 for Elite Stage. Then a Ceramic Pro coating so the surface resists the wash marring that made them, and hand or touchless washing from then on.
