What decides it
- Prep. The caliper comes off or is fully masked, and it is stripped of brake dust and old finish down to clean metal. Paint over dust peels.
- The finish. A high-temperature coating rated for brake heat. Ordinary paint discolors and flakes at caliper temperatures.
- Cure. Proper flash and cure time before the wheels go back on.
What you get
Color that stays put through years of heat cycles, and calipers that wipe clean: brake dust cannot bond to the coating the way it bonds to bare cast iron. A Ceramic Pro Wheels & Calipers coating on top makes that even easier.
What kills them
Track days at extreme temperatures with a finish not rated for them, wheel acids sprayed directly and left to dwell, and brake work where a shop scrapes the finish with tools.
