Real disadvantages
- Upfront cost. From $899 for the bumper and headlights to $4,990 for the whole car. Cheaper than one respray over the life of the car, but paid on day one.
- It is a hand-installed product. The room, the prep and the edges decide the result. Choose the shop, not the brand.
- It has a life. 10 years warrantied on Ceramic Pro Urban, lifetime on Ceramic Pro PPF, and eventually replaced. The paint under it stays new.
Not real disadvantages
- Yellowing: only cheap film.
- Peeling: only unwrapped or overstretched edges.
- Paint damage at removal: only resprayed panels or film left far past its life.
- "You can see it": only when edges are not wrapped.
How to avoid the avoidable ones
Ask which film, whether edges are wrapped, and where the install happens. We use Ceramic Pro film, wrap every edge, install in a closed climate-controlled bay, and include a $549 Ceramic Pro coating with every Full Front and Full Body.
