Downside 1: it costs money now
Partial Front from $899. Full Front from $1,799. Track Package from $2,590. Full Body from $4,990. A front-bumper respray in Broward is $600 to $1,200 and never matches. Film is a one-time cost against repairs you would otherwise make more than once.
Downside 2: it depends on hands
Two shops with the same roll of film produce different cars. The difference is in wrapped edges, trim removal, cutting to the car, and a bay without dust. You cannot tell from a price list; you can tell from the edges on their last ten cars.
Downside 3: it is a consumable
Warranted 10 years on Urban and lifetime on Ceramic Pro PPF. One day it comes off. The upside of that downside: the paint under it is the newest paint on the car, and a new film goes on in a day.
What is not a downside
Washing: the same as paint, minus brush washes. Appearance: invisible on a clean install, and with the Ceramic Pro coating we include on Full Front and Full Body, glossier than bare paint. Resale: a car with original, chip-free paint sells faster.
