When a rinse is enough
Dust, pollen, rain marks, light road spray. On a coated car none of it bonds to the surface, so water at pressure lifts it. Rinse top-down, then dry with a blower or a plush towel. In South Florida, drying matters: reclaimed sprinkler water and tap water leave minerals that spot if left to dry.
When it needs soap
Road film after highway miles, bug residue, bird droppings, sap. Those need a foam or a pH-neutral soap and a soft mitt on the affected area. Still no scrubbing; the coating releases them.
What not to leave on the car
- Bird droppings and love bugs. Acidic. Off within a day, even on a coating.
- Sprinkler water. Minerals bake in the sun. Rinse and dry.
