What is in the package
Usually a paint sealant, a fabric protectant and sometimes a "ceramic" product, applied by the dealership's detail lane in an hour, without correction, then a warranty that covers a short list of stains and requires paid annual reapplication. Priced $700 to $2,000 and added to the loan.
Why it is rarely worth it
- No rock-chip protection. Only film does that, and it is never in the package.
- Applied over lot-wash swirls, which it then seals in.
- A sealant's real life is months. The "lifetime" is the warranty's paperwork, not the product.
What the same money buys
Full Front PPF from $1,799 with a $549 Ceramic Pro coating included. Or a Ceramic Pro coating package from $499 on corrected paint, warrantied 2 years to lifetime by package. Both installed in a closed climate-controlled bay, both registered with the manufacturer.
If you already bought one
Bring the car in. Most dealer sealants come off with the decontamination wash and real protection goes on top the same day.
