What tint does for a car here
- Heat. Ceramic film rejects infrared, so the cabin is cooler at a stoplight and the AC works less.
- UV. Up to 99% blocked. Dashboards, leather and your skin on the left arm all age from UV.
- Glare. Easier eyes on I-95 at 5 pm.
- Privacy and security. What is on the seat is not on display.
- Resale. A cracked dash and faded leather cost more than the tint did.
What is not worth it
Dyed film. It darkens the glass, rejects little heat, fades purple and bubbles in a few summers, and then costs more to remove than it cost to install.
